What Would A Tara Return Look Like On Young and the Restless?
Summer mentioning that Tara is actually Harrison’s biological mother on The Young and the Restless (and, as far as we know, Tara has never surrendered those rights; she’s in prison, not dead) got us to wondering whether the show might be laying the groundwork for her return. And if original portrayer Elizabeth Leiner isn’t available, or if The Powers That Be want to take the character in a different direction, here are some daytime favorites who could play the role — and really stir up Genoa City.
Paging Tara Locke
Although she wasn’t around for long, Tara seemed to pique the interest of many in Genoa City. There’s her connection to Kyle (Michael Mealor). There’s the fact that it would upset Summer (Allison Lanier). There’s the fact that somehow Victor (Eric Braeden) would surely involve himself. The possibilities are nearly endless.
Kelly Thiebaud
This General Hospital star won the Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actress in 2022, and she’d definitely give Tara an edge. Summer would seem like a little girl playing house compared to her, and Kyle would probably burst into tears the minute she walked through the doors of the Abbott mansion.
Kelly could make us believe that this was the older woman Kyle had a fling with in the Hamptons and that he was much more invested in her than she ever was in him. Plus, can you imagine this redhead going up against mother-in-law Diane (Susan Walters), not to mention Summer’s smother, Phyllis (Michelle Stafford)?
Julie Berman
Another GH Emmy winner (2013), Berman, would be a kindler, gentler Tara. With her, you’d believe she actually fell for Kyle way back when. He was such a change from her take charge, master of the universe, alpha made husband, Ashland (Robert Newman). We can see Kyle truly falling in love with his baby mama. And Claire (Hayley Erin) really would not appreciate the competition for Harrison’s (Redding Munsell) attention — or Kyle’s.
Chloe Lanier
Ok, just one more from GH. This 2018 winner for Outstanding Younger Actress has already played the bad mom part in Port Charles. She swapped her live baby for Willow’s (Katelyn MacMullen) dead one just to make Michael (Chad Duell). Can you imagine the kind of havoc she could wreak here? Even Phyllis would have to bow down before this level of crazy. And that’s really saying something!
What do you think? Should Tara return to Genoa City? If so, who would you like to see play the character? Let us know in the comments.
