Young and the Restless Star Melissa Ordway Teases Abby Finding Out About Ashley’s Woes

While Ashley’s siblings are heavily involved in her alters storyline on The Young and the Restless, her daughter, Abby, played by Melissa Ordway, has mostly been absent from this compelling tale. Soap Hub caught up with Ordway at the Daytime Emmys to get her feelings on the matter. Read on for some insights.

All About Abby

When is Abby going to get involved in her mother’s story as Ashley grapples with her mental health? “So that is like the No. 1 question I’ve been getting on Instagram and on all of [my] social media platforms,” Ordway told Soap Hub on the red carpet on Daytime TV’s biggest night. “Where is Abby when it comes to her mom?”

Ordway teases that that answer is coming sooner rather than later. “The story is not over yet, so Abby is going to play a part in it,” the actress previews.

Ashley’s daughter isn’t just making a prediction. She’s already taped her part in this tale — it just hasn’t aired yet. “So, stay tuned,” Melissa Ordway says.

As viewers have seen, Ashley split off into three different personalities. There’s Ash, a teenager, Belle, a southern flirtatious woman, and Ms. Abbott, a femme fatale. Jack (Peter Bergman) and Traci (Beth Maitland) have stepped up to support their sister as she tries to make sense of her life.

Longtime Y&R fans recall that Ashley dealt with some mental issues back in the mid-1980s when she had a breakdown following her abortion. (Ashley chose to end her pregnancy so that the child’s father, Victor, would stay with his dying wife, Nikki, who ended up going into remission.)

Ashley landed in a hospital where she met and fell in love with Dr. Steven Lassiter (the late Rod Arrants). The two were married, but Steven died after one of his patients shot him.
