Saying goodbye is never easy, no matter how young or old we are. Michael Easton just said goodbye to General Hospital and the character he’s been playing since 2016, Finn. And in the process he’s had to say farewell to his on-screen daughter and of the show’s youngest actors, Jophielle Love. The scenes in which Finn and Violet said goodbye tugged at our heartstrings in both the best and worst ways as the two talented actors put their all into the farewell.

But part of what may have made those scenes so beautiful is that Easton and Love clearly share much the same love offscreen that their characters do on it.

We could see that when Easton said goodbye to his young co-star in an Instagram post, writing that, “This is the hardest goodbye of all for me.” He shared a series of photos and videos from over the years, explaining, “The first picture was taken right after Violet and Finn’s last goodbye. After they said cut, Jophielle Love and I immediately found each other and we hung on like we didn’t want it to end. The last video was taken between scenes on the very first day we met and I remember it like yesterday.

“Jophielle,” he continued, “you are pure magic and you are going to do amazing things in this life. Go forward with rainbows in your heart and know that I will never forget you.”

Check out the beautiful post below, and flip through the photos and videos of Love and Easton’s time together on General Hospital.

As Finola Hughes (Anna) noted in the comments, it was “Just pure love.”

That it is, and though their time onscreen may be over, all we can say is thank you to both Easton and Love for giving us such amazing performances and such a beautiful, heartbreaking father/daughter relationship we won’t soon forget.
