General Hospital’s Michael Easton Out as Finn: Watch His Heartfelt Farewell
Credit: Disney
First we lost Gregory Chase on General Hospital, and now it looks like we have to say goodbye to his son, Finn, too. The doc’s been having a tough time ever since his dad died, sinking into an alcoholism that’s cost him Liz, his job and his only daughter, Violet. But as much as we’ve been hoping he can pull out of this downward spiral, it seems it may already be too late.
More: Where has Lucky been?
Because now, Michael Easton has shared on Instagram that he just finished filming his “final scenes here at General Hospital.”
“I’ve always been partial to the Irish goodbye,” he admits in the video. “That’s where you leave the party without actually telling anyone you’re gone. But I thought you all deserve better.”
“I’ve loved every minute that I’ve been here,” Easton continues “I want to thank the entire cast and crew for allowing me to share their stage this past 10 years. Most importantly, I want to thank all of you for the kindness and love you’ve shown me and my family. I won’t ever forget you. And as I walk out here for the last time, and with apologies to the great Lou Gehrig, I feel like the luckiest man on the face of the earth.” Check out his emotional farewell below.
There’s no word yet on when these final scenes will air, nor on how Finn will leave, but if we’d have to guess, we’d say he’ll finally leave to get treatment. Tracy even has a facility all lined up for him to go to, with a 90 day minimum stay. Hopefully, that would leave the door open to Finn’s possible return some day. After all, we’d hate for another of Easton’s characters to die!
That would also allow Violet to stick around, rather than leave with her dad, as Brook Lynn and Chase could continue to look after her while her dad’s getting treatment.
It’s been a long, windy road for Easton, who’s been with General Hospital since 2012 when he brought his One Life to Live character, John McBain over to Port Charles. After legal disputes sent McBain packing, Easton was brought back as Silas Clay, the brother of his Port Charles character, Stephen Clay — who he also briefly resurrected on General Hospital! (Possibly as vampire Caleb Morley, as well, but the jury’s still out on that.)
And when Silas was killed back in 2015, Easton returned again in 2016 as Dr. Hamilton Finn, who he’s been playing ever since. Stay tuned to see how he exits, and we wish Easton all the best in wherever he goes next. As he wrote in his Instagram post to his fans, “Thank you for your kindness. My heart is filled with love and gratitude.”
