Sarah and Xander’s wedding day is fast approaching on Days of Our Lives (we think — there isn’t a date just yet) and the bride-to-be is doing everything she can to make sure it’s a memorable one… One way or another. Because it’s clear that bringing Xander’s mom in is going to cause some bigtime drama!

But then, we’d expect no less. Xander and Sarah’s relationship has been nothing if not dramatic, and throwing an alcoholic mom you haven’t had contact with in years in there, is bound to ratchet that up a few notches!

In real life, their drama netted Linsey Godfrey an Emmy nomination, as the scenes she submitted were from one of “Xarah’s” confrontations over Victoria. In other words, Xander and Sarah were having family drama from before the two were even together!

But Godfrey isn’t the only one from Days of Our Lives with an Emmy nom, and when she spoke with Soaps.com about the big night, she couldn’t have been happier to support her co-stars. And it goes beyond even Salem.

“I’m 12 years into daytime,” she reflected. “And I think anybody that’s been in it for a while, we all just come to be like, ‘This is really cool, this thing that we do. It’s weird and it’s different from any other form of acting. And there’s just a lot of love and respect and I just adore that.”

Over the years, Godfrey shared, she’s worked with just about everyone of the actress and supporting actress nominees but The Young and the Restless’ Allison Lanier (Summer), “and I just think the world of all of them. I feel very, very lucky. I love this genre. I’ve never seen anything in my life where you have this group of people who all work in the same genre and they’re all just cheering for each other.”

After the nominations came out, she reached out to her former The Bold and the Beautiful co-stars who received nods, and, “they all reached back out over to me when they heard mine. I love that about about soaps. I just adore that about them in general. That, to me, is one thing that makes them so special.”

So while Sarah is trying to bring Xander’s mom to Salem and Godfrey is getting ready for the Emmys, at the end of the day, it all comes down to family — whether by blood or vocation. Because for soap actors, the Daytime Emmy awards are just one big celebration of each other and the genre that they all love.
