The end is rapidly approaching, not just for the Jude saga on Days of Our Lives but for Arianne Zucker’s time as Nicole. Eric’s bound to find out that he’s Jude’s father sooner, rather than later, and after that, it feels like Nicole’s story will come to as natural a conclusion as can be under the circumstances. But where will that conclusion lead?
Zucker spoke with Rachel Uchitel for her Miss Understood Podcast to talk about all things Days of Our Lives, lawsuit and the end of Nicole. As far as the actress knows, as we reported, her final script said her last day is July 29, but “I’m not sure if that got moved or anything. But as far as I know, July 29, 2024 is my last airdate.”
She last filmed on December 23, two days before Christmas. But when Uchitel asked how she’d be written off, Zucker was, understandably, a bit less forthcoming.
“I have decorum,” she shared. “I will not say how I leave the show. I do respect that we don’t want to share that. We want the fans to be excited and enticed.”
She still loves Days of Our Lives and the folks that work there. “The majority of people that work there are absolutely, 1,000 percent incredible,” Zucker said. “I love them so much and I will always be there for them in anything that they need.”
She doesn’t just want the show to survive, but to thrive, whether or not she’s there anymore. “The goal here is we want people to continue to work at Days of Our Lives,” she explained. “I know personal stories of co-workers, and I don’t want them to lose their jobs. I want this show to keep going. That was the whole point in doing this. And I’m glad it is. It got picked up for 60 years, we’re in year 58, and I’m so happy for them. I would never change that.”
So even if she is gone from the show and even if that’s it forever, Zucker doesn’t want to just throw it all out and ruin surprises or storylines for the fans. But she did say one thing: “I think they were smart enough not to kill me.”
That’s a relief! It’s not clear whether that means the door could ever be open for her return after everything that’s happening, the show is thinking about recasting Nicole or they just didn’t want to infuriate fans by killing a beloved character. At the very least, though, we can rest easy knowing Nicole’s tale won’t have a tragic ending.
