Not So Fast! Bold & Beautiful’s Bill Shouldn’t Start Passing Out Cigars Yet — and Here’s Why

Well, the results are in! Thanks to Poppy’s confession and Li’s handy paternity test, The Bold and the Beautiful put Luna’s paternity to rest once and for all. Bill is her father! After months of speculation (and an outright lie or two), it all came roiling to the surface within a matter of days and we’ve now gotten confirmation that Luna is a Spencer… Or did we?

It all seemed straightforward enough, and they were all so happy at the end, but that’s the problem we have with the whole thing. Li burst in on Poppy’s confession, sneering that her sister was lying to get her hooks into handsome, rich Bill. But that could have easily all been an act to convince them (well, Bill, in particular) to let her do the paternity test since surely she didn’t want the result to be positive.

We suggested this very thing yesterday. And at first we thought, well, we must have been wrong, since Li did the test in front of everyone and they all saw the results. But after thinking about it, we aren’t so sure. Because it’s not just the chance that Jack could be Luna’s father — there’s also Finn. If he’s the daddy like we’ve suspected and the show has certainly hinted at, then Li also has all the reason in the world to want to doctor the results.

Sure, she says her test was sealed, but she could be lying. Maybe she took a positive result and slipped it into the test kit, pretending it had never been opened yet. Or, let’s be real: She’s the doctor here, not Poppy or Bill.

Surely she could have worked out a way to rig the test or the results without having to resort to switching anything. Maybe she knows how to force a false positive. It can happen with home pregnancy tests and after the pandemic, we probably all know the frustrations of taking at home tests.

So if we were Bill, we’d run off to a hospital — not one Li has access to! — and get a test done by professionals who couldn’t care on whit about who Poppy’s dad is or isn’t. Maybe he really is and the show’s just been yanking us around to throw us off the scent. But with Li so eager to be involved in the testing, we’re not quite ready to believe it just yet.

And with how happy they all were at the end, you just know they’re bound to be blindsided by what’s to come next.
