When The Bold and the Beautiful brings back Thomas Forrester the week of June 24, on his arm will be none other than the long-MIA Paris Buckingham — and in the show’s hands, a golden opportunity.
Historically, Paris has been written as more of a plot device than an actual character — to the point that it feels like we barely know who she is. When the soap gave her a crush on married man Finn, she told us that she longed to have the stable home life that he and Steffy did. But when Zende got serious about her, she informed him that she wanted to play the field — and with, of all people, Carter, who she knew had slept with Quinn behind Eric’s back.
So in short, the writing for Paris has made no sense. It’s been all over the place. “I want commitment! On second thought, no, I don’t! I’m honorable! I like the guy who cheated with the boss’ wife!” Huh? And don’t even get us started on the embarrassment that was fartgate!
But we can put all of that in the past if Bold & Beautiful brings Paris back with not only Thomas’ engagement ring on her finger but a clear through-line in her head. If she is written as having genuinely fallen for the unlucky-in-love bachelor, if she is written as being 100-percent in synch with his desire to get married now, now, now, she could be a formidable rival for Hope and a true partner for Thomas.
