Four years ago, the family of The Bold and the Beautiful/The Young and the Restless alum Adrienne Frantz (Amber) grew from three to four with the birth of her second child, Lion. Then, two years later, that family grew once again when she and husband Scott Bailey (Guiding Light‘s onetime Sandy) welcome their third child, Killian, into the world. That moment, though, almost didn’t happen as complications during Lion’s birth almost took both baby and mom from the world.

Four years later, though, mom and son are doing just fine and Frantz can look back at that scary time with the comforting knowledge that everything would turn out just as it was meant to.

She took to Instagram to wish a “Happy 4th birthday to my baby boy, Lion! You are truly an angel! You bring this world so much joy with your beautiful soul! 4 years ago we both almost didn’t make it. But God has great plans for us! And I am forever grateful for this amazing adventure we get to have together!” Check out the aptly named Lion’s adorable, smiling face today in Frantz’s post below!

The challenges the family faced didn’t end with Lion’s birth, but, as his proud mama shared, he’s pushed through every obstacle put before him  including autism. “I love you and your fighting spirit,” she continued. “A year ago you were non verbal and you have come so far! I can’t wait to watch you conquer the world!”

Fans chimed in to share love and encouragement, including a few folks talking about their own children and grandchildren on the spectrum — and how beautifully special they all are. We, like Frantz, are sure there’s nothing little Lion can’t conquer and we can’t wait to see him grow into the incredible person he’s sure to be.

Happy birthday, Lion!
