90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way star Kenneth Niedermeier is not on board with Armando Rubio’s decision to have a baby via surrogacy. Armando was 31 years old when he met and fell in love with 57-year-old Kenny in a group for gay fathers. Armando and Kenny started off as friends but soon entered into a long-distance relationship. Kenny decided he would move to Mexico to get married to Armando, but the latter had to deal with an opposing family. They eventually got married in a fairytale ceremony and have been living in La Misión with Armando’s daughter Hannah Rubio.
It was during 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way season 3 that Armando first thought of expanding their family. Even then, Kenny was not too pleased with the idea because he was already a grandfather at his age. According to a preview of The Other Way season 5 episode 6, shared by ET, Armando bursts into tears after Kenny rejects his proposal again.
“One of the biggest concerns about having a baby at my age is, what will I miss?” Kenny tells the cameras. He knows he would probably never see the child’s children, and that’s what Armando is not ready to understand. Still, Kenny feels adopting an older kid would be better. But Armando recalls them going to an orphanage where they were told about the process taking four years.
90 Day Fiancé’s Kenny “Doesn’t Know What To Do” After Argument
“I definitely know that surrogacy is possible here in Mexico City, and it would be a much quicker process to expand our family,” Armando notes. The only reason Armando wants to have a baby with Kenny is he loves how the latter is as a dad. “I love you as a parent and wanted to share that together,” he admits. Armando doesn’t want to keep pushing the decision to the back burner anymore. He knows it’s time to make a decision. “Well, I don’t have an answer today, so I’m asking you to kind of respect me on that a little bit because this isn’t about where we’re going to on vacation,” Kenny admits.
Armando doesn’t react well to Kenny’s statement. He feels Kenny is accusing him of being disrespectful. His voice cracks as he calls Kenny “unfair” because “it’s not even the case, and you know that” and starts walking away from where Kenny is seated inside a café. Armando sobs uncontrollably as a confused Kenny is deep in thought. He confesses to the cameras that “this is a big decision. The biggest I think I can make,” he continues. Kenny believes his decision has to be the right one for everybody involved in the long run. “And the last thing I want to do is break his heart, so, I don’t know what to do,” he says.
Kenny and Armando returned to The Other Way as a couple who had plenty of differences between them. Kenny desired to move to Mexico City for good, while Armando was against it. What made Armando look forward to moving was the fact that Mexico City would give him access to fertility clinics. The couple is in Mexico City for a short visit to test the waters before moving. In the meantime, Armando may have thought it was best for him to start looking into surrogacy as that too would be a lengthy and expensive process. But no amount of convincing is making Kenny want to have a baby at his age.
