The 90 Day Fiancé star took to social media this week to respond to the news that her estranged husband, Michael Ilesanmi, has launched a (very successful) GoFundMe to pay for the lawyer he’s hired to help him in his legal battle against his 58-year-old wife.
Angela filed for an annulment back in June, claiming that her Nigerian husband allegedly “fraudulently induced [her] into a marriage for the purpose of gaining legal permanent resident status in the United States.” (A private investigator she hired to investigate Michael has disproved those claims, revealing on Sunday’s episode of the 90 Day Fiance: Happily Ever After? Season 8 Tell-All that he found no such evidence.)
As of press time on Thursday, Michael’s fundraiser had raised $28,734, which has surpassed the $25,000 goal he had set. (It was originally set at $50,000 but Michael amended it on the first day the fundraiser went live.)
“Did you see Michael made his goal? What is wrong with you, United States of America?!” Angela— who was, for some reason, broadcasting from a public bathroom— said. “I am totally ashamed right now. Who makes a GoFundMe, makes $25,000 for legal fees when we have people out there who are posting [to raise money] for sick kids, sick moms, or veterans out there who don’t even get $25,000. Wake up, America! This is unacceptable…”
“$25,000, congratulations Michael. You’re gonna need it,” she added.
In an earlier response to Michael’s recent crowdsourcing efforts, Angela hopped on TikTok to share with her fans that she had some important news to share about her spouse, whom she referred to as “Mr. It.”
“ … Mr. It is saying that he is not understanding why now, he wasn’t expecting this annulment,” she ranted. “Well, b*tch, did you not know when I said [during our wedding vows], ‘Obey who, obey what?’ I’m not the submissive Mother Queen, ok?
“What do you think, you can hang in Texas or California or New York and get the little scratch on your lip and then I was gonna sit down?” Angela continued. “Obviously I know you more than you know me. GoFundMe, my ass! How about GoFundMe and give me back my years I spent on a scammer? Boom!”
Upon launching the GoFundMe on Tuesday, Michael–- who later confirmed on Facebook Live that the fundraiser was not fake-– shared that, due to Angela’s recent legal filings, he “must seek legal advice,” noting that the fees for the lawyer he has obtained are expensive.
“ … I am asking all my fans to help– whatever you can give I would deeply appreciate,” he explained in bio of his online fundraiser. “I understand all of us are having hard times and I hate to ask others for money support but it seems like due to the legal actions brought against me I have to ask.”
Michael launched his GoFundMe less than a week after 90 Day Fiance viewers took to social media slamming Angela’s disturbing (and abusive) behavior towards him during the Season 8 Tell All episodes. Angela’s unsettling actions also had fans taking to various social media platforms to call out TLC, as well as the “90 Day Fiance: Happily Ever After?” producers and Season 8 cast members for not stepping in on Michael’s behalf.
